This is what fun looks like - Kraft+

Sheesh, it's been a while between drinks!
I have loads to update, but before I do, I want to tell you all about the new March challenge at Kraft Plus!

If, like me, you have a bit of a penchant for all things sparkly, you are going to love it! A fabulous sketch, plus something glittery. Include whatever catches the eye, be it metallics, sequins, glitter... enjoy!

Here is my page, using a kraft base and the new Simple Stories 'Say Cheese II' collection, which is available in the Sassy Scrappers store now.

I have been waiting to scrap this photo for ages and the sketch (which I've rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise) with it's strips, has finally granted me my wish! My kids were going stir crazy during a couple of days of wild weather outside and so we took to some shredding (which makes them ridiculously happy!) They had the best time just covering each other up with the shreds and throwing it - crazies!!

I've trimmed lots of little strips of paper and lined them up, imperfectly on my page. I've included some gold foil spotty kraft as well as some textured gold glitter cardstock. These were then machine stitched down. The paper ruffle was created by punching along the length of a strip of paper, then gently folding it by hand, into the ruffle shape. I then machine stitched along the top bit to secure it down and popped it behind my photo.

I have a bit of a habit when it comes to covering a dotted pattern with enamel dots or something similarly circular! On this 3x4 Sn@p card, I have added some gold rhinestones to the letter 'U' for some fun.

Lots of little details finish the page, like sequins, rhinestones, my fave glitter enamel dots, glitters stickers and rub-ons. I am sure you will have lots of fun with this challenge - we are all looking forward to seeing what you create!

Thanks so much for popping in!

Kraft Plus Challenge Blog

Kraft Plus (K+) is well and truly alive and kicking! If you love kraft and love amazing challenges, you have got to pop over to the brand spanking new blog to see the challenge for February and to see the amazing DT examples!

This is the first challenge for Feb, entitled 'Mango Breeze'. Bear in mind, it's not a moodboard challenge, it's a colour challenge, so you can interpret it any way you like and best of all, you can submit pretty much whatever you are inspired to create, including Digital, as long as it's based on kraft. Yippee!

Here is my page for Feb. I was completely inspired by the gorgeous colour combination this month and have paired the soft florals with some rough edges and messy stitching.

Lots of layering. The 'seriously' 3x4 card is from the Heidi Swapp Project Life kit.

The Maggie Holmes obsession continues, with some hand embossing using the die cuts from the Open Book floral ephemera pack. If you have the Volume 17 No 6 issue (Christmas issue) of Scrapbooking Memories Magazine, I have a tutorial on this technique on page 57.

There are heaps of awesome goodies up for grabs as prizes each month and loads of inspiration! I hope you will join us as soon as you can ;)

Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Stories CHA

CHA... yes those little letters were a part of my life for the first time ever this year thanks to Simple Stories! To say it was a serious spin out is an understatement! How I would have loved to have been able to experience it in person, but thanks to Instagram, I was living vicariously through all those lucky people seeing all that crafty amazingness in the flesh!

I had six layouts on display at the show. I'm sure you will agree that the stand looked brilliant and the incredible new collections just blew everyone away! Look out for them in the Sassy Scrappers store very soon.

This was one of my pages for the show. I've used the exquisite 'I Am' collection which is all about scrapping the very important, and yet often neglected people in our lives... ourselves!!

The sentiments in this line really resonate with me and the lush gold adds such a luxurient touch. You will adore it.

The middle panel has been created with complimentary colours pulled out of the collection... 6x6 papers, Sn@p cards, washi paper and ephemera. The have been machine stitched together and used as a backing for my photo and title.
The photo is actually of some parsley flowers from my modest herb garden. I had let them bolt a bit over the holidays. The minute flowers could have been easily overlooked, but they were so so beautiful. Each a tiny, perfect specimen. The 4x6 Sn@p card was the perfect fit for this picture. We need to make more time to stop and smell the roses.

Some clever additions to the new collections are the awesome 'New Bradz' which have no pesky bit poking out of the back as well as these gorgeous decorative clips (shown below). The nice thing about these is that the sewing machine can stitch through them, so you can secure bits if you like. Other major highlights for me were the new chipboard frames (squeal!) the gold and silver foil accents on the new collections and the awesome interactive elements in the 'I Am' collection.

I Am, Say Cheese II, Enchanted and lots more gorgeous stuff will be shipping to retailers from next month. Keep your eye out!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
