Be Awesome

Good morning to you all my lovelies!

This morning I am sharing a little mini album on the Sassy Scrappers blog, using the beautiful and rather inspiring Studio Calico 'Sundrifter' collection. (How cool is that Greatest View 2013 flair!) I'd love you to pop over and have a look...

Wishing you a safe and happy Easter weekend

Hop little bunny

As lots of you know, if possible, I really love to pop a bit of interaction into my creations! I fell in love with the little bunny I used on my 'Eggcited' layout and thought he would be perfect to use on a Easter card... Mr Bunny loves to chase his carrot over the hills!

Here are the steps I took to create this pull-out card...

Firstly, I selected some paper (in this case, a sheet from Crate's Acorn Avenue). I wanted the patchwork  side to be the hills, so I cut the shape I wanted for the card and folded the first 'flap' over.

Secondly, I cut the shape of the front 'hill' out of some matching card stock. I want my pull out message to come out of this front bit, so I scored a small section (which will adhere to the bottom patchwork 'hill') and then cut a line (see dotted line in pic) This is where I will feed the message through.

Next I glued the thin scored section onto the patchwork paper, making sure to leave the rest 'open' so I can feed my message through.

I used a digital rabbit that I found online and printed him onto some white card stock. I then fussy cut him out and attached him to a strip of paper (measured to fit inside the area I cut earlier). Feed this strip into the cut, resting the bunny along the top of the yellow hill, (don't forget to glue the left side shut now), and voilĂ  you've got a bunny running over some hills!

This is what it looks like when you pull the carrot!

Products used: Crate Acorn Avenue pp; card stock; Pink Paislee 'Portfolio' ephemera; Basic Grey stickers; Kaisercraft alpha stickers; K&Company woodgrain chipboard alpha stickers

Why not have fun creating your own interactive card!

Leaping Leibsters!

Last week I was super duper chuffed to be nominated for this little award from the very lovely Sandra. I nearly fell off my chair when I was then nominated again in the same week by Anita!! Ladies, thank you - you certainly made a couple of my days!

For those of you who don't know what the Liebster Award is, it was designed to be a blog award in a 'pay it forward' fashion. It is awarded to blogs that have fewer than 200 followers to encourage new visitors to them. Once you have been nominated, you award it to five other bloggers who you appreciate, that have fewer than 200 followers. Leave them a comment on their blogs to let them know that you have given them this award.

I would like to nominate 10 lovely people who I love to visit and I'm sure they would love you to visit too! In no particular order...

Kerryn Lawson: Kerryn's work is just gorgeous... and she's a Maaaaaster ;)

Sue Smith: I recently discovered Sue's work via her entry on Once Upon a Sketch. She has some fabulous work!

Mell Pell: An all-round seriously clever chickie

Leonie Waldron: Leonie's work is fab and she has one of the coolest url's ever!

Celeste Vermeend: Visit this blog and be happy...

Athanasia: If you are looking for some amazing technique inspiration, this is a blog you don't want to miss!

March KIU - Cool Cat!

Mid month is always a busy 'share' time for me - I want to show you lots! I absolutely LOVED the March sketch at Kraft it Up. (The mid month DT reveal is up as we speak.) I had so much fun with it, and I've been looking forward to this post for a little while now!

This is my take on the sketch...

Inspired by my very clever friend Kim Jeffress, who does lots of divine Memory File stuff for Heidi Swapp, I wanted to make a little surprise, in the form of a mini 'reveal' using some ring binders. I cut the file divider shape using my Silhouette. I've also popped a few other bits directly onto the rings or attached to another little layer in the stack. I'm using a few papers from Amy Tangerine's completely awesome 'Yes Please' collection, in store now at Sassy Scrappers.

Lift the little flap and there's my cheeky girl in all her glory! I've used Glitz Designs, 'Unchartered Waters' on the inside.

The super cute journaling tag is by Miss Tiina

A 'Vintage' Year

Soooo excited to share my first layout for this month's challenge at the *New* 123 Challenge Blog! This month the challenge involves these three criteria:

* Our colour = Black
* Our Word = Year
* Our Technique = Twine Circles

My layout... Yep, that's yours truly! This layout touches on the feeling I'm getting, that time is quietly catching up with me, lol - no longer a 'spring chicken!'

How delicious is that Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm paper?! I've created my own version of twine circles by stitching the '0' in 1980 with metallic twine...

...and roping some mini circles around the number '9'. Rhinestones are enjoying a big revival in my stash at the moment!

Glitter will never be too far away either! Oh these Maggie Holmes glitter alpha's are to die for!!

There are lots of little goodies in this 'journaling' cluster. A tasty Amy Tangerine 'Ready Set Go' Vellum envelope, some tiny Basic Grey tags; Glitz 'Hello Friend' peekaboo and a glimpse of Crate DIY along with a few other tidbits.

Products used: PP: Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm, Little Yellow Bicycle, Crate DIY, Basic Grey Soleil. Glitz Design Maggie Holmes glitter alphas, Basic Grey stickers and button, Amy Tangerine Vellum envelopes, Pink Paislee phrase stickers and 'Portfolio' ephemera tag. Rhinestones, twine and Silhouette Cameo.

If you have some time, it would be great to have you play along with us. There are stacks of fabulous prizes to be won! You have until 11.59pm Australian Time on 30th March to link our entries

See you soon!

Can you dig it?

** If you are here for my Giveaway, please click here**

The new sketch at Sassy Scrappers is up! I really loved it. (I personally prefer a more simple sketch, so I don't get too distracted by too many 'specifics'.) We'd love for you to join us! The winner will receive a $20 store voucher with free postage (international included!!) Plus, right now, there's half price postage!!

I am super duper thrilled to be working with Studio Calico's 'Sundrifter' this month!

Sea World have this great Dino fossil digging pit, where kids (of all ages ;) can unearth some treasures with a paint brush! For the circles in the sketch, I've used various textures, starting with some Versamark on top of the cardstock using my go-to stamp at the moment. I've also got a fab 'Fresh Style' flair from Greatest View. There are also some itty bitty Studio Calico wood veneer phrases and another 'splatter' stamp with yellow ink.

I printed off a dinosaur skeleton that I found online, onto some kraft card. I've raised his bones on some foam tape for depth. That's glorious Glitz Design 'Color Me Happy' washi tape in the background, along with some Sundrifter die cut shapes.

It's the weekend...

** If you are here for my Giveaway, please click here**

It's almost the weekend again! Hopefully the sun makes a full appearance at some point (so we can swelter in the humidty from all the rain, hehe!)

It's a new month, which means a new sketch and theme at Once Upon a Sketch!

This is the fab March sketch Nadia has put together for all of us to play with...

Theme: "Its The Weekend!"

What does your weekend look like?

Maybe you work, or run around like crazy taking your kids to activities etc. Lunch with friends? Movies? Dinner? Or maybe you do all the exciting stuff like ...clean the house, tend to the garden , kinds birthday parties. You might like to tell us of an exciting weekend coming up, or a weekend past. Maybe a weekend getaway? Whatever it is that you want to tell us that has to do with the theme "Its The Weekend" we would love to hear it.

Your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below.

Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . You are allowed to journal in any language but please tell us where on your page we will find your journalling. Remember journalling has to be a bit more than a title, or a generic comment. Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.

This is my take on the sketch. I love the sense of 'freedom' that the weekend brings. I chose to use an image of a sea gull in flight, as it represents that feeling of being 'liberated' from the week's demands and because we quite often find ourselves at the beach on the weekends!

For my title, I've used an Imaginarium Designs chipboard phrase. I'm quite enjoying learning how to work with chipboard. It's difficult to see the actual effect in this photo, but after priming it with Gesso, I inked it with a bright magenta. There were a few spots on the phrase where the colour didn't take, so I chose to re-ink the 'gaps' with orange. The subsequent result looks a bit like it's been spray painted. Quite cool!

I've also 'linked' the two words 'Happy' and 'Days' with a gorgeous little Webster's Pages bird charm, to tie in with the image I've used.
I cut those fabulous chevron cards with my Silhouette. (The die cut is available at their online store.) I've used the negative space in the cards to tuck various bits, including my journaling.

I've used a couple of the little Sn@p Life bits along with that yummy heart badge - part of the new collection at Greatest View.

Products used: Kaisercraft card stock, sewing machine, Silhouette Cameo, Imaginarium Design chipboard phrase, October Afternoon 'Midway' cardstock stickers, Sn@p Life! cardstock stickers, Dear Lizzy 'Neapolitan' paper, Greatest View flair, Glitz Design Washi, Webster's Pages charms, Amy Tangerine 'Let's Go' flair, Pink Paislee 'Artisan' mistable chipboard arrows, Tattered Angels in Charcoal & Strawberry Shortcake

Till next time!
