Fairest of Them All

Eeek it's been ten whole days since my last post... It's been a very strange, manic and stressful week but it's taught me a few things.

The start of a new month also marks my last post using Echo Park for Sassy Scrappers...

Interested? You know I'd love you to take a look ;)

Till next time

Do what makes you happy!

Hello lovelies

What a jam-packed weekend it's been! I've got just enough time to reflect on a few highlights, before it all starts all over again :)

I've been dying to share this layout with you for a while... It's my May DT layout for 123 Challenge blog. The criteria this month are

I'm so pleased with the way this one has turned out! I was inspired by the amazing British street artist, Banksy. I tried to recreate his effect, using a couple of processes...

  • I wanted the layout to have a 'quick and dirty' feel, (lol) and for the title and image to be key. The background is a sheet of Simple Stories 'Urban Traveller' chevron/concrete which is perfect for my 'wall'.

  • Next I chose a graffiti font and cut the first part of it with my Cameo. For the word 'Happy', I printed the text onto some red Basic Grey scraps and hand-cut it out.

  • As I mentioned, I wanted minimal embellishment, so I've gone for a few simple chevrons, cut from a sheet of Dear Lizzy, Lucky Charm, which I sewed on with my sewing machine. This Greatest View 'Classroom Rules' badge is a perfect match! I've literally taken a piece of paper out of the bin, stamped it with a notebook stamp and used it for my journalling.

  • As for my little chicken, well, it would've been a whole lot easier if I was able to print on a 12x12 at home. To solve this problem, I started off by 1. scanning the actual paper (so I could get the effect of being printed/spraypainted directly onto the background. 2. I then gave the image a stamped effect in Photoshop and overlayed it onto the concrete image. 3. I printed this out onto photo paper (regular paper would've worked fine too) hand cut it out, and adhered to my page.

  • The balloon was also created quickly out of a scrap piece and I drew in the string.

Next time, I might just take my paper down to Officeworks or something, lol!

Hopefully we will see you over at 123! There are some great prizes to be won and you have until the 31st May to get your entries in.

Thanks for popping in!

Movie Star - May Kraft It Up!

I am stunned at how quickly the weeks are flying by... Mid May and time for a little Kraft it Up layout which should be on the blog imminently!

The theme this month is 'Vintage':

This month we want to see some vintage inspired layouts. Your layout can be what we would describe as classic vintage or modern vintage and anything in between!

The only requirement's are that you create your layout on Kraft Patterned Paper or Kraft Cardstock and your entry must be created for this challenge ONLY!!!

I am a huge fan of Vintage goodies and for this month's challenge I have taken inspiration from some 1930's movie posters featuring my beautiful Grandmother as the young starlet!

This is very much a hybrid project as I pretty much designed the layout on my computer, then set about printing and creating elements separately, to transfer to paper.

**

I cut the title with my Cameo, creating an outline effect with the 'offset' option.

Don't forget you have until the end of the month to link up your entries! See you there!

Two Peas - OUAS May Challenge

What a day - the sun is shining and in a few hours, I am going to be whisked away on a surprise adventure, by my wonderful friend for my birthday!

Before the festivities begin, I'd love to share with you (and especially you, Denise van Deventer!) my layout for the May challenge at Once Upon a Sketch. It's a great sketch and we'd love to see your entries!

As it's a two image sketch, I've chose to use some pics which I have been wanting to scrap for ages. There is no mistaking my two are related - at age two, they look like they could be twins!

I've started with some gorgeous 'Scallop' paper from Glitz's Unchartered Waters. I've used both the (backing) of the Imaginarium Designs chipboard letters as a stencil and the alphas themselves.

Playing around with some Color Me Happy peekaboos. How I love my Greatest View flair!

I treated the chipboard with two shades of Color Shine (Gold Lamé & Sweet Cherry) and similarly, I tried to create an Ombre effect with Mustard, Georgia Peach & Sweet Cherry). I was able to create a sort of pinboard effect and tuck a few bits and bobs into the Cross Hatch, by snipping parts of it.

I've used a Louise Nelson designer 'Cross Hatch' and some Capital Letters from Imaginarium Designs

This is the sketch and the theme is NUMBERS

This month, we ask you to include a number , ANY number, on your layout. It has to be VISIBLE on your layout and it can be in your title or part of your journalling. It can be a date, an age, a house number, an anniversary, the number of children you have, the number of pets ....anything you like. But please make sure that there is some explanation through your journalling, somewhere on your page or blog about what this number means to you.

Your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch
Materials used: Glitz Unchartered Waters, Imaginarium Designs chipboard, Glitz Color Me Happy washi tape, Peekaboos & 'Polka' paper; Elle's Studio tags, Studio Calico Sundrifter wood veneer; Greatest View flair

Hope to see you all there!

May's Story

This month I am popping a toe into the Project Life waters! All month at Sassy Scrappers, I am going to be playing with Echo Park's 'Today's Story' Photo Freedom kit.

To kick off, I've used one of the 6x12/4x6 sleeves to create a little story all about a beautiful afternoon. I've used our May sketch to create my layout - why not give it a go?

(For those of you seasoned 'Lifers', please bear with me as I try to navigate my way around!) I'd love to hear about how you approach your layouts and if you have any tips to share!

Thanks for stopping by!
