Hole in One!

Recently, our kids enjoyed a fun filled and action packed day with their little friends. Bowling and some very cool glow-in-the-dark mini golf! Even though you can't really see my kids exactly, I loved the pics and couldn't wait to scrap them!

I absolutely loved the contrast between the dark room and neon brights, so I've kept the colours mute with the super bright photos doing all the talking!

After recently discovering this technique, I'm quite smitten with embossing chipboard. I've done this piece haphazardly and then stamped over it in places and finally stitched with some multicoloured thread to highlight the colours in the pictures. As you know, I'm rather fond of all things Greatest View and these Everyday Hashtag badges express our sentiments on the day exactly!

Can't get enough of these Crate alphas. I also had fun with a bit of a play on the word 'hole' and backed this up with various circular cutouts.

Thank you for stopping by, hope you have a fabulous day!

'Dream' - Kraft it Up! July

Hello lovelies... I know I've been in my cave of late, bear (hehe) with me for a few more days... I'll be surfacing again shortly!

Just wanted to share a layout with you for this month's challenge at Kraft it Up! For July, we are challenging you to try a different 'style'. I knew exactly what I wanted to do, but needed a bit of help from the masters of mixed media... enter a personal fave of mine, Kelly Foster :)

I'm not going to lie - this one took me a while. But I couldn't be more pleased with it and in real life, it has the most beautiful shimmer to it. I'm going to frame it up for Erin's room.

To begin, I started with the reverse side of a sheet of embossed Core'dinations card stock. I liked how the numbers added to the background textures. I gave the whole thing a rough coat of Gesso and we were off...

Next came some texture paste and a fab 'Mini Cubist' Crafters Workshop template. What followed was a bit of a whirlwind of Color Shine, Gelatos, Glimmer Glam and glitter!
These Petaloo and Kaisercraft paper blooms had a makeover and got their bling on...
I've used a gorgeous 2Crafty 'Gigi's' chipboard flower in this cluster. There are some awesome new designs that have just been added to the shop!

*IMAGE BACK SOON*

This is the link to Kelly's tutorial on You Tube. It is guaranteed to get those creative juices flowing!

Hope you have the time to play along with us this month at KIU!

Thanks so much for stopping by

Beary Extraordinary

Hello to Tuesday and hello back to school for some of us in the Southeast. This is my 100th post! Wowsers! (That might just have to call for a giveaway at some point soon...)

I'm posting from under a mountain of ironing... Thinking I should really get around to it today, but there are way more exciting things to do, like share some pics of a layout that is on the 123 Challenge blog at the moment.

This is Blue Ted. He is a most treasured member of our family. Josh had a blue teddy that was very similar to him that went for an 'extended holiday' at a shopping centre at Christmas time, about 4 years ago. Blue Ted came to stay with us to keep Josh company, while Teddy v1 decided if he liked staying on holiday forever or not! Needless to say, he is not-so-blue anymore, a bit scruffy and squishy nowadays, but the sweetest friend a boy could have.

Now the challenge this month at 123 is

For my background, I wanted to do a kind of graduated denim look. I got the inpiration from a dress I saw on the net...

... So I searched for some images of denim. Once I was happy with the colours, I printed swatches off onto photo paper, trimmed into sections and sanded the edges to give a distressed look.

It's probably a bit corny, but I quite like a little play on words. I love these clear alphas by Heidi Swapp and that Greatest View arrow badge.

You may have seen this sneak on the 2Crafty blog on Sunday. I love this little 'Building Block'. It was the perfect addition to my layout. I started by painting it with Gesso as a primer, then using red acrylic all over as a base. I mixed a few shades of darker red and then went about creating shadows on the brick. A few little highlights with white acrylic (you could probably also use a white gel pen) make it pop.

Products used: Paper: Card stock (any colour as a base and red for the title); Simple Stories 'Urban Traveler'; Maggie Holmes for Crate. Embellishments: Urban Traveller Sn@p Cards and cardstock stickers; Pink Paisley City Sidewalks ephemera; Heidi Swapp clear alphas; Greatest View flair; Basic Grey 'Hey Boy' chipboard stickers and bottle cap stickers; 2Crafty chippie; Silhouette Cameo

You have until 11.55pm 31st July to link your entries on the blog

Have fun, and thanks so much for visiting!

OUAS - July challenge

Hello lovelies

The school holidays have been a bit of a flop so far - miserable weather teamed with illness, doth not a happy house make!

If it's wet in your part of the world, and have some time for craftiness, Once Upon A Sketch has a smashing challenge for July. This is my take...

Journalling Theme: "Grow"

Your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch.

Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . You are allowed to journal in any language but please tell us where on your page we will find your journalling. Remember journalling has to be a bit more than a title, or a generic comment. Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.

I wanted to use this quote as it really sums up Erin's personality. She has a devil-may-care attitude at times. Some days it drives me mad, other days I wish I had her tenacity and lust for life!

I've used this gorgeous Imaginarium Designs 6x6 Honeycombe cutting a section, splitting the hexagons out, then misted with 2 shades of Color Shine, Gold Lamé and Bronzer. I've used the grid as a stencil and trimmed some hexagons out of some Bo Bunny Double Dot. Some of these I've raised on foam tape and others I used as a backing in the negative space.

The middle photo opens to reveal my journalling.

A pretty Amy Tan stamp, some 'aged' hexagons and some shadow stamping from the left over grid.

Materials used: Paper: Prima Engraver Cesello, Bo Bunny Double Dot Pink Punch. Lilac card stock. Embellishments: Imaginarium Designs Honeycombe, Color Shine, AC Thickers, resin flower, Silhouette Cameo

This is the sketch. Entries can be linked up on the sidebar. Entries close midnight, 25th July.

Thanks for popping in!
