Beary Extraordinary

Hello to Tuesday and hello back to school for some of us in the Southeast. This is my 100th post! Wowsers! (That might just have to call for a giveaway at some point soon...)

I'm posting from under a mountain of ironing... Thinking I should really get around to it today, but there are way more exciting things to do, like share some pics of a layout that is on the 123 Challenge blog at the moment.

This is Blue Ted. He is a most treasured member of our family. Josh had a blue teddy that was very similar to him that went for an 'extended holiday' at a shopping centre at Christmas time, about 4 years ago. Blue Ted came to stay with us to keep Josh company, while Teddy v1 decided if he liked staying on holiday forever or not! Needless to say, he is not-so-blue anymore, a bit scruffy and squishy nowadays, but the sweetest friend a boy could have.

Now the challenge this month at 123 is

For my background, I wanted to do a kind of graduated denim look. I got the inpiration from a dress I saw on the net...

... So I searched for some images of denim. Once I was happy with the colours, I printed swatches off onto photo paper, trimmed into sections and sanded the edges to give a distressed look.

It's probably a bit corny, but I quite like a little play on words. I love these clear alphas by Heidi Swapp and that Greatest View arrow badge.

You may have seen this sneak on the 2Crafty blog on Sunday. I love this little 'Building Block'. It was the perfect addition to my layout. I started by painting it with Gesso as a primer, then using red acrylic all over as a base. I mixed a few shades of darker red and then went about creating shadows on the brick. A few little highlights with white acrylic (you could probably also use a white gel pen) make it pop.

Products used: Paper: Card stock (any colour as a base and red for the title); Simple Stories 'Urban Traveler'; Maggie Holmes for Crate. Embellishments: Urban Traveller Sn@p Cards and cardstock stickers; Pink Paisley City Sidewalks ephemera; Heidi Swapp clear alphas; Greatest View flair; Basic Grey 'Hey Boy' chipboard stickers and bottle cap stickers; 2Crafty chippie; Silhouette Cameo

You have until 11.55pm 31st July to link your entries on the blog

Have fun, and thanks so much for visiting!
