The new K+ challenge for August is sure to both test and excite you! A splash of ZENTANGLING, it's time to get our craft onto kraft! Once again, I started off with an idea which ended up a completely different project... a layout turned daybook, using kraft, a Heidi Swapp Minc and new Simple Stories 'So Fancy'.
Here is the kraftboard to get your ideas flowing. Remember, it doesn't have to be a lot. As much as you like, but there has to be doodling and there has to be kraft.
This little book has already come in very handy. The foil cover looks awesome and the inside is simple with just few embellishments, so it leaves lots of space for jotting ideas down.
On the inside cover I've adhered a pocket which I created with my WRMK Fuse Tool. I can use it to keep small bits that I want to hang on to.
Most of the inside pages are just white A4 copy that I've folded in half. Dotted in amongst them are various sheets of 12x12 patterned paper from the So Fancy collection which I cut down to A4 size. All the papers were folded in half, then I stitched the whole thing, along with my cover (which I will explain below) together using my sewing machine.
For my cover, I drew a full A4 page worth of doodling and then (nose burning from the fumes!) I scanned the drawing in and, using my little laser printer, copied it onto an A4 sheet of kraft cardstock.
I then covered the kraft in mint foil and ran it though the Minc. Note that the finish on the foiling wasn't 100% because the kraft had a slightly rough texture. For perfect results, smooth stock is much better for foiling.
I've run tabs down the length at various positions within the book and popped a small bit of motivational text in the form of expressions stickers near the top of the pages. The beautiful selection of So Fancy washi paper was perfect to run along the very top of each page, to add a bit of colour to the blank pages.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you will play along with us this month!
