Wonderful, thanks, happy day...

I've been sitting on this layout for a while, as it used a Bo Bunny paper that I was worried was going to set off alarm bells for those on the 'Master' trail, (hehe) so I kept it aside, along with my secret...

Heidi Swapp has the best handwriting in the business! (Mildly obsessed with it at the moment) along with Pink Paislee 'Hey Kid' ephemera and HS Mixed Company confetti rub ons. One of my fave Greatest View flair finishes it off nicely.

The paper was super busy, so I toned it down a touch with a smattering of gesso and ran a Glitz roller doodle through it while wet for some texture.

Thank you again, to everyone who has sent well wishes on the various channels, your support means the world to me!

To those of you sweltering in and around Brisbane today - keep cool! I reckon we are going to go and take advantage of the Cinema air conditioning!

One tenth of a BIG secret!

So I'm sitting here, unable to sleep... or think clearly... or relax. I've felt like this before you see. Most recently on the 2nd of September. It feels every bit as nerve wracking and exciting as it did on that day, waiting for the call. Some of you may have seen my news on social media today already as I was finally able to shout it out loud...

I am one of the Scrapbooking Memories Masters for 2013!

Ohmygosh it feels good to say that. Soooooo good! It's been a hard secret to keep, but the euphoria today makes it feel all the more special, all over again.

As you can imagine, this is a dream come true for any scrapper. A dream that I was almost too scared to chase. But I remember seeing a quote somewhere which said "You have to want it more than you fear it" and that became my little mantra when I agonised over every tiny detail on each piece in my entry. It's amazing how much doubt one can breed in the early hours of the morning!

Thank you to SBM for making this possible and a huge congratulations to the nine other lucky Masters able to make similar announcements today!

Hooray!

Making a List - Kraft it Up!

One of the things I love most about this time of the year, is watching my little man scribble his thoughts down, on what he would like from the big 'Man in Red'. When he wrote his own list a few years ago I literally jumped up and down with excitement. Such a milestone! He now helps little Sis with hers... but that won't last much longer either.

I've snapped him in action and used it in my layout for the Kraft it Up challenge this month. As with a few of my teams, this is my last one for KIU. I've made so many new scrappy friends in the process and will miss it. But... there are going to be lots of fresh new faces to inspire you in the coming months! I hope you will continue to support Melissa and the girls in their endeavours.

The challenge this month is to create a layout, "Christmas Themed" using one of the following non traditional colour schemes...
AQUA/KRAFT/WHITE/SILVER
OR
PINK/KRAFT/WHITE/GOLD

The kraft plays up both of these colour combinations beautifully! As you can see I have gone with the aqua combo, with a few touches of pink here and there (is that cheating? hehe)

I've created a pocket with the bottom section of lined paper, by sewing three sides and leaving the top open. In here, I've tucked more of Josh's writing - his top 10 (mind you, his choices change daily!)

This 2Crafty chipboard Reindeer has been given a slick of gesso and a slather of crackle paint. Looks divine!

If you can squeeze in the crafty time, the challenge entries close 11.55pm, 31st December... take advantage of the free time while the kids play with their chrissy toys ;)

Thanks for visiting!

Bundle of Joy - 123 Challenge Blog

It's busy out there folks... sheesh! I'd rather stockpile the fridge and hide indoors, only venturing out after the crowds have worn themselves out for the day! ;)

If you have some time for fun (or to de-stress!) why not join us for the December 123 Challenge. This month's prompts are:

* COLOUR = METALLICS
* WORD = JOY
* TECHNIQUE = BOWS

I'm ashamed to admit, but I am one of those people who has possibly the worst newborn photos ever. With my first child, we went to the labour ward and forgot the camera! So the first moments of my son's life were captured on a disposable one, bought hastily in the gift shop. Tragedy! I tried to get better prepared for the second... packing the camera in the bag days before I went in. Erm.... not thinking about where my arms were going to be during a c-section, these precious moments were entrusted to a less-than-enthusiatic nurse and well... the rest is history I guess. I wish I could have a rewind button where I wasn't looking like death, or the baby was sleeping beautifully, or I took those annoying sales people up on their offer for a free portrait of your bundle of joy. It's like the first few weeks of my children's little lives didn't happen! This is one of a precious few (that after heavy retouching) is just about passable...

Bows... this was a challenge for me. Not a lot of flowers or 'pretties' on my layouts as you know, but I was totally inspired, having just experienced 'The Power of Heidi' after her class here in Brisbane. I've created a little mixed tag with a Crate ticket, a Heidi mistable camera and a clear heart from the Mixed Company ephemera pack. The seam binding was then tied through the die cut shapes of this Pink Paislee 'Color Wash' paper.

I've used some super cute bow pattern Mixed Company paper to back the triangle die cuts as well as a gold Crate doily for the metallic aspect of the challenge. Still enjoying my Epiphany Craft tool, I've teamed it with this gorgeous #love Greastest View flair.

Entries for the challenge close at 11.55pm 31st December.

If you want to get your hands on some Heidi Swapp or Pink Paislee goodies, there is plenty available in the Sassy Scrappers store. As a bonus, all orders placed between the 16th and 25th December, go into a lucky draw!

Have a great day!

25 December Days and some cards

Shout it out loud with me Queenslanders.... Schoooooool's out for summer!

Yeehaa! I'm a happy little camper :) I have some 'December Days' updates on the Sassy blog today and I also had a few Chrissy cards a bit earlier in the week. I'm using Heidi Swapp's 'Believe' collection, which is in store now... and whilst you are there, check out the new Studio Calico Print Shop - it's too cool!!

Wishing you a fantastic Friday!

Love you to the stars and back - Scrap365

So I was feeling totally inspired the other day and had a chance to create something 'just because'. Doesn't happen often these days! I saw this month's sketch challenge on the Scrap365 blog and was quite taken by it.

These pics of my hubby and I were taken by my little sausage - all two years of age.
He drives me crazy at times - I guess after so long together, we both have habits that drive the other nuts! But he's still my nutcase ratbag.

I just got those AC 'Kitten' alphas the other day... aren't they fab! You can get them in store now (along with heaps of other cool stuff!) at Sassy Scrappers. There are also a couple Greatest View flair in the mix :)

My journalling to my husband is hidden under the second row of photos.

Stars, stars, stars... This Pink Paislee paper stole my heart the minute I saw it. I've backed the die cuts with a mix of patterned paper and glitter card stock and then embellished with as many stars I could find in my stash, including some too cute tiny confetti rubons by Heidi Swapp (fast becoming product du jour for me!)
The challenge ends on the 13th December if you'd like to have a go. This is the sketch:

Thank you for stopping by!

Jingle All the Way - OUAS December

Happy December!

A weekend of camping has blown away (literally - the weather was rough for the most part!) the cobwebs and I am looking forward to a month full of frivolities!

This month sees my last post for Once Upon a Sketch. It was my first ever DT position and it's with mixed emotions that I say good bye and look forward to seeing the fresh new faces and creations of the amazing team for 2014. Good luck girls!

December's challenge
Journalling Theme: "My favorite month"

I love the magic of December and all that goes along with it! This layout was created with the very awesome 12x12 'Believe' paper pad we were given at Heidi's class. Love, love it! If you are looking for more of this Christmas line, Sassy Scrappers has had a delivery of more goodies, so pop into the shop and treat yourself!

So many things to love about Christmas time! I remember seeing these Pink Paislee chipboard embellishments a bit after the rush last year, so I bought them and squirrelled them away until now, lol. My Epiphany tool has to be a new favourite toy for sure! I love how you can create custom creations for any project.
The 'Believe' ephemera pack is the bomb! An awesome mix of clear, vellum and paper die cuts. I've paired them with some mixed embellies... sequins, stamping, epoxy buttons and vellum cuts I've made on my Silhouette.

You are free to interpret our theme any way you like but please make sure your layout is based on the sketch below and includes some journalling (hidden journalling is fine)

You have until midnight December 25th Australian Eastern Standard Time to enter.

Thank you for popping in!
