Card love

Another little 'Crate' card... This is for my sis overseas who will celebrate in a few week's time.

I used a Chevron Cameo cut for the 'bones' of the card and then used a selection of Crate's On Trend 6x6 pad for the background.

I removed the word 'Valentine's' from a sheet of Fourteen's Cardstock Cuts to make the sentiment. I also added a section of Imaginarium Design's Long Swirly Flourish which I misted with Gold Lame Color Shine (yes I'm still in lurve with it!) as well as a few other bits.

Products used: Kaisercraft cardstock; Silhouette Cameo; Crate On Trend & Fourteen collection papers; Imaginarium Design Long Swirly Flourish, Heidi Swapp Color Shine; Pink Paislee City Sidewalks Ephemera; Seam binding

I've got lots to share in Feb.... roll on tomorrow!!

Till then

Love one another

One thing about being stuck indoors in this wild weather we are having, is that it gave me some great scrapping time yesterday!

This layout has a picture of my sister and niece. Very dear to my heart, it pains me that they live so far away. It touches on the, at times, tumultuous relationship the two share. Based on what I hear about teenage daughter's, I'm glad I have a few years to go!

I've had this sheet of paper for so long. It was so pretty, I didn't quite know what to do with (apart from admire it!) The tones matched the pic so beautifully. I used some Jo Sonja's artistic colour in Burnished Copper as a matting for the photo. Over that I stamped, sewed a section of lace and finally placed the circles I cut on my Cameo.

How gorgeous are those butterflies from Imaginarium Designs. They have lots of fab new shapes in stock! I added a bit of interest to the edge of the top circle with some hot pink embroidery thread.

True words...

Very excited to be selected and I look forward to loads of fun over the coming months!

My son's school has been closed until Wednesday, as there is no power and loads of debris on the grounds. Wishing those of you with little ones starting Kindy or Prep tomorrow the best of luck! Hope they have lots of fun as they move into the big world!

Coffee Date

This is quite an 'old' layout. I kinda fell out of love with it and filed it away. I'm still not sure about it....

Maybe it's got too much going on and that's what bothers me. Anyway, it was PC (pre-cameo, lol) it took ages to cut the little coffee cup!

How cool is that Greatest View flair!

As good as it gets?

My dear friend Shelley and I would like nothing more than a nice picture of the two of us to put in a frame which I gave her a looong time ago. Sadly it seems we are doomed to fail... Lol!

I can't help but laugh at this picture! I wanted to keep the background simple, so as to focus on our very real 'issue'! Hehe. I used my Cameo to cut the text and mounted some glitter cardstock behind.

This cute little tag is from Simple Stories Sn@p collection from Sassy Scrappers. I am totally in love with Heidi Swapp's Gold Lame Color Shine!!!

I created a little removable magnetic cluster which holds my journaling at the back

Love those Studio Calico Wood Veneer Arrows which I've misted with Tattered Angels Charcoal Chalkboard Mist and the Gold Color Shine

A Paper Story

So I have been a busy bee... lots of yummy things to share very soon! In the meantime here is a little something for the Paper Stories December challenge.

My little 'princess' at her best! lol

I wanted to create some irony with the 'pretty' embellishments in contrast to the subject matter!

I created a little pocket for my journalling from a Maya Road canvas coaster album. I took off one of the pages and cut it open (as it's double sided) and stitched the one side closed to neaten the edge.

My journalling talks about how I can not resist her when she does this. It often gets her out of trouble as I can't help but laugh!

This is the fab sketch, created by Nadia. (I've rotated it 90 degrees to the right.)

Products used: Paper (woodgrain one, no idea! lol) Bo Bunny Double Dot; Heidi Swapp Vintage Chic; Simple Stories; Glitter paper. Embellishments: Crate journalling tag; Maya Road Canvass coaster album; Studio Calico Wood Veneer #200; Webster's Pages Resin flower & trinket; American Crafts Puffy stickers; Simple Stories Sn@p Sticker Icons; Stamp-It stamp; Sequins and leather from Scrapbooking Fantasies; Fiskars Punch

Scrap the Boys January

I was lucky enough to win the December challenge at Scrap the Boys with my 'Batman Smells' layout! This month's theme is drawing layout inspiration from your son's favourite holiday/summer activity.

My kids are both water mad and I managed to capture such great shots of him playing on the (as we say in South Africa) 'Slippery Slide'...

I wanted the title to reflect the last small photo where is has fallen over, creating a splash. I found a great cut file in the Silhouette store by Sarah Bailey. Crate's 'Peanut Deli' from the Acorn Avenue collection was perfect for the water effect of the puddles!

I've used an Imaginarium Designs 'A' chipboard letter to add dimension to the title

Hidden journaling

The 'On Trend' collection just screams 'Summer' to me!

Products used: PP, Crate's 'On Trend' collection and 'Acorn Avenue'; Flair button, October Afternoon; Basic Grey canvas flowers; Elle's Studio tag; Simple Stories 100 days of summer journaling tag; Silhouette cut file; Authentique alpha stickers; Imaginarium Designs Chipboard letter

Thanks for visiting!

Splendour in the Grass

This boy of mine is too delicious! I look at him and am constantly amazed by how divine
he is! I snapped this pic of him while on a break in Hervey Bay.

I wanted to keep the focus on him, so I've kept it fairly simple with just a few embellishments.

This paper matched his shirt perfectly, but it was a bit busy against the grass, so to add depth, I cut the same font (Ginebra Bolds) twice, but I offset the font so as to get an 'outlined' effect.

You can do this by selecting your text in Silhouette studio, then go to 'Object' menu. You will see a dialogue box open up on the right hand side. Select the circular shape with the red inner circle, and then you can adjust the width accordingly. Click apply when you're done.

I love these Imaginarium chippies - they give it an ethereal feeling.
Products used: PP Basic Grey, Crate and Studio Calico; American Crafts Chipboard Thickers; Basic Grey Alpha Stickers; Glitz Design Peekaboo; Imaginarium Designs Chipboard Elements

Hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend. I am certainly doing the Rain Dance!
If your stash is looking like it could do with a few more bits, hop over and check out the

15-30% off Kaisercraft, Prima, Pink Paislee, Glitz Designs, Basic Grey, October Afternoon, Studio Calico, Echo Park...

In the Bin!

My little rattie is always up to mischief! For this month's sketch at Stuck?! I've used a pic of her hiding inside a mini wheelie bin where we keep the balls at Playgroup. Cheeky monkey!

I've kept it fairly close...

I wanted to show direction in this layout, so I started off, cutting a little chevron mask using my Cameo. I found the cut file on Pinterest. You can download it here

For the top band, I cut up some October Afternoon 'Cotton Candy' from the Midway collection on the diagonal, and then sewed them before adhering, to give them a bit of dimension.

I've tucked a little journaling on a gorgeous Crate 'On Trend' tag and used some metallic pink plastic twine (for lack of a better description! lol) from Scrapbooking Fantasies behind that gorgeous face!

The arrows are a mix of October Afternoon and Pink Paislee. (I misted the Portfolio one as the colour didn't suit.) I also removed the 'stick' from a Dear Lizzy lollypop sticker to get this cute circular shape.

Products used: PP - Kaisercraft 'Class action hero'; Crate; October Afternoon Midway 'Cotton Candy'; Crate 'On Trend' cut tags; AC Dear Lizzy Neapolitan accent stickers; October Afternoon 'Midway' shape stickers; AC 'Remarks' Clearback accent stickers; Bella Blvd chipboard alphas; Basic Grey 'Clippings' mini alpha stickers; AC 'Prairie' chipboard tile letter; Hambly Screenprints Washi tape; Pink Paislee 'Portfolio' Ephemera

Crate inspiration

Oooh I have already said how much I love Crate's 'on trend' collection. All those patterns really appeal to my African nature! I knocked up a quick birthday card for a fellow Saffa living in London... She might enjoy a bit of colour while skies are still grey!

Just because Christmas is over, doesn't mean I have to give up my love of all things sparkly!
I saw this gorgeous glitter effect on Crate's blog and had to try it! Here I have painted some adhesive on the top section of a Prima Resist Canvass bird and then covered that part in glitter.

I've also used a delicate Imaginarium Kerri Flourish that I inked with white and some glittery ribbon from Scrapbook Fantasies.

Until next time!
